Get up, carry on, don’t give up – even when things don’t go as planned. jule’s songs are about falling down and getting back up, about taking an honest stock of the present, but also about that undeniably uncertain feeling of living in tough times. Even on her first EP, “Im Regio weinen” (2024), jule crafts emotive stylistic miniatures that blend singer-songwriter lyricism, folk and indie pop, offering us glimpses into her inner world. In doing so, she shifts effortlessly between fragile intonation and powerful outbursts, just as she does between melancholy and euphoria. It is these apparent contradictions that also lend her debut album “es ist nie zu spät für frühstück” (2025), released last year, a thematic and compositional honesty that hardly anyone dares to face in these times. For it is clear: when everyday life is characterised by overwhelming demands and metaphysical homelessness, even the most eloquent words of encouragement degenerate into cynical platitudes. It is therefore to jule’s and the music’s great credit that things are called by their proper names here and offer hope without seeming artificial. On the contrary: here comes someone with their heart on their sleeve and their soul in their songs.
