About
Whilst others dream of time machines, DeadWax have already tracked down the local bus back to the glory days of the 90s. For over a decade, the Leeds-based quartet have been blasting through a repertoire of songs that blend rap and alternative rock, nu metal and grime at a level once thought to be a thing of the past. The muscular riffs of Rage Against the Machine go head-to-head here with vocals that – like Fred Durst’s – effortlessly switch between rap bars and shouts, whilst the songwriting is often reminiscent of Static-X and Drowning Pool. DeadWax truly excel at using these influences to forge a style entirely their own with contemporary production and variety. Their EP, “DeadWax” (2024), has already turned quite a few heads in the UK, sold out venues across Europe, and set the stage for an upcoming European tour. Now, their debut album, “Nu-K” (2026) – which is brimming with bangers – is being released, and it almost certainly marks the start of the first phase in which this band will set their sights beyond the nu-metal revival. Is the sky the limit? You bet. But before the hype really takes off over here, they’re coming to see us in Hamburg first. So, buckle up, and prepare to see the stars.
